Jones and Riggs Named to SEC Community Service Team
AUBURN, Ala. — South Carolina seniors Megan Jones and Will Riggs were named to the 2020 SEC Swimming & Diving Community Service team by the league. The Gamecocks were recognized for their exemplary work within the Columbia community with over 100 hours of service combined.
Jones, a Suwanee, Ga., native, has volunteered at Bright Horizons, the Daycare and Preschool located on South Carolina’s campus, where she played, read and worked with the 3-4 year old classroom. Jones also worked at ECM Yoga, where she helped teach yoga and mobility exercises to developmentally disabled adults in the community. She has also provided assistance at the Children’s Hospital. A team captain for the last two years, Jones served as the captain for South Carolina Swimming’s Relay for Life team for the past three years and is a Capstone Scholar.
Riggs, a Richmond, Va., native, has volunteered at PETS Inc. Rescue shelter and the annual Boo at the Zoo in Columbia. He has also been a member of the Relay for Life team throughout his career in Columbia. Riggs won the 2017-18 Gamecock Inspiration Award and has been a five-time member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
The Gamecocks are in Auburn, Ala., this week for the 2020 SEC Championships, which run from Tuesday to Saturday.
