Eight Gamecocks Named to College Football Network’s All-SEC Squads

Xavier Legette earned third-team All-America honors and eight University of South Carolina football players were named to the All-SEC squads, as selected by College Football Network.

Legette, a 6-3, 227-pound senior from Mullins, S.C., was one of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top receiver, and was an A.P. Midseason Second-Team All-American. He led the Gamecocks with 71 receptions for 1,255 yards, and seven receiving touchdowns. His 1,255 receiving yards was the second-highest single-season mark in school history. Legette averaged 104.6 receiving yards per game (2nd in the SEC), 17.7 yards per reception (7th in the SEC) and 5.9 receptions per game (4th in the SEC) and logged six 100-yard receiving games. He earned second team All-SEC honors from both the Associated Press and the league’s coaches earlier this week.

Legette was joined on the College Football Network’s All-SEC first team by linebacker Debo Williams. Defensive tackle Tonka Hemingway was a second-team selection, while offensive center Nick Gargiulo, defensive tackle T.J. Sanders and cornerback Marcellas Dial highlighted the third team. Linebacker Stone Blanton and kickoff specialist Mitch Jeter earned honorable mention accolades.

According to its website, College Football Network “exists to honor the student-athletes, the coaches, the fans, and anyone who has touched, tasted, been traumatized and tantalized by what we consider to be the greatest sport on earth. Launched in Dec. 2022 as a subsidiary of Pro Football Network, our aim is simple — to be the primary voice for college football.”
