Spencer Excels on 3-Meter Board
Knoxville, Tenn. – South Carolina’s divers completed their second day of competition at the Tennessee Diving Invitational with freshman Max Spencer leading the group with a finals appearance on the 3-meter springboard.
In the prelims, Spencer placed third with a score of 366.95 to book his spot in the finals. During his second set of dives, Spencer tallied up 344.90 points to finish in ninth place.
Also competing in the 3-meter springboard event was sophomore Charley Bayer who placed 23rd (292.50) and freshman Tyler Hoard who placed (274.15).
South Carolina’s women competed in the platform event with Mak Blake placing 22nd, Josie Matalone placing 26th, and Blair Isenhour placing 28th. Blake’s score of 196.40 was a new career-best for the freshman who was competing in the event for just the second time collegiately.
In the women’s team event, Blake, Matalone, and freshman Aislinn Zuechner team up to score 230.35, placing ninth.
The Tennessee Diving Invitational will conclude on Friday with the women’s 1-meter springboard and the men’s platform event. Both events will run simultaneously with the competition beginning at 11:30 a.m. Live stats will be available on Dive Meets.
