Oliveira Added to Mannelly Watch List
Carolina Long Snapper Recognized for Outstanding Performance
University of South Carolina long snapper Matt Oliveira has been added to the Patrick Mannelly Award watch list, it was announced today.
The Mannelly Award, named after NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly of the Chicago Bears, will be given in Chicago on Dec. 14, 2019 to the best FBS senior long snapper. The award is presented by Bernie’s Book Bank, a non-profit organization in Lake Bluff, Ill.
Oliveira, a 6-3, 208-pound redshirt senior from Watchung, N.J., is in his first season as the Gamecocks’ long snapper after coming to Columbia as a graduate transfer from Maryland. He was a three-year starter for the Terrapins from 2016-18, and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Semifinalists for the Mannelly Award will be announced on Monday, Nov. 18, and the three finalists will be announced on Monday, Nov. 25.
