Pair of Gamecocks Make Debut Finals Appearances at Zone Championships

Athens, Ga. – South Carolina’s diver completed the second day of action at the NCAA Zone B Championships on Monday with a pair of finalists – one in the men’s 1-meter and one in the women’s 3-meter.

For the men, freshman Max Spencer advanced to the finals of the 1-meter event after placing 14th in the prelims with a score of 296.55. In the finals, he put up a 12-dive score of 576.25 to finish in 17th overall in his debut event at the Zone Championships.

Also in the prelims of the event was sophomore Charley Bayer who finished in 23rd with a 282.45.

On the women’s 3-meter board, junior Blair Isenhour made her second finals appearance of the event after having made finals in the 1-meter event yesterday. In the 3-meter prelims she was the last diver to book a spot in the finals after placing 18th but she jumped up to 15th place overall with a 12-dive score of 564.75 in the finals. The finish is a new career-high for Isenhour who placed 22nd in the event last season.

Also in the event was freshman Aislinn Zuechner who placed 37th with a 243. 35.

The Zone Diving Championships will continue of Tuesday with the men’s 3-meter and the women’s platform.
