Alex Huntley Nominated for Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

COLUMBIA, S.C. (July 17, 2024) – University of South Carolina redshirt-senior Alex “Boogie” Huntley is one of 178 nominated for the 2024 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, an organization that recognizes college football student-athletes for their unwavering commitment to community service and their “good works” off the field.

This year’s 178 nominees champion causes including mental health awareness, youth mentorship, hunger relief, domestic abuse prevention, and many more. In addition to being actively involved with a charitable organization or service group, each player must also maintain strong academic standing to be considered for a spot on the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

“You’ll never regret making someone else’s life better,” said Tim Tebow, two-time national champion, Heisman Trophy winner, 2008 Wuerffel Trophy recipient, and 2009 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team member. “Year after year, I’m inspired by these incredible nominees who go above and beyond to help others.”

Huntley, a 6-4, 303-pound defensive tackle from Blythewood, S.C. is entering his fifth season with the Gamecocks. He was named one of the six Rex Enright permanent team captains for the 2023 season and was one of three Gamecock student-athlete representatives for the 2024 SEC Media Day on Monday in Dallas, Texas. Huntley excels on and off the field, having earned three SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll appearances and is an active member in the community in the Midlands.

The final roster of 23 award recipients for the AFCA Good Works Team will be announced later in September with 11 players representing the FBS level, 11 student-athletes from the combined division of FCS, Divisions II and III and NAIA as well as one honorary head coach.

In addition, Allstate is partnering with the Wuerffel Foundation to combine two of the most meaningful awards in all of college football. The Allstate Wuerffell Trophy Watch List will be released on Thursday, Aug. 1.
