Hunter Rogers Named Semifinalist for the 2024 Patrick Mannelly Award
University of South Carolina redshirt senior Hunter Rogers is one of 10 Division I players named a 2024 Patrick Mannelly Award semifinalist, it was announced tonight. The Mannelly Award recognizes the nation’s top long snapper.
Rogers, a 6-1, 206-pounder from Columbia, handles all long snapping duties for the Gamecocks. He took over the long snapping duties for punts midway through his redshirt freshman season of 2021, and added short-snapping duties full-time in 2022. He was a second-team All-SEC performer in 2022 and a first-team selection in 2023. Rogers, who was also nominated for the 2024 Burlsworth Trophy, was a preseason first-team All-SEC pick by the coaches in 2024 and is a candidate for All-America honors this season.
The Mannelly Award, named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, benefits Bernie’s Book Bank, a non-profit that provides books for underserved communities in the Chicago, Illinois area. This will be the sixth year the Award has been presented to the top FBS snapper.
The 10 snappers will be narrowed to the final three announced Monday, November 25, 2024. The three finalists will be invited to the Award presentation dinner on Saturday, December 14, 2024, outside Chicago.
