Oscar Adaway III Named Chair of the SEC Football Leadership Council
Four Southeastern Conference student-athletes have been elected by their peers to serve as officers of SEC Leadership Councils during meetings recently at the SEC offices.
South Carolina’s Oscar Adaway III and Vanderbilt’s Bryan Longwell were elected Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, of the SEC Football Leadership Council, while Alabama’s Barry Evans and Texas’ Ethan Doehler were elected Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, of the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council (SAAC).
A native of North Little Rock, Ark., Adaway appeared in 13 games for the Gamecocks last year with a pair of starts. He started and had a 36-yard touchdown run in the Citrus Bowl vs. Illinois. Adaway is in his first year as a member of the SEC Football Leadership Council.
Longwell, a native of Nashville Tenn., is in his second year as a member of the SEC Football Leadership Council. He started all 13 games for the Commodores in 2024 and led the team with 89 tackles.
Evans is serving as SAAC chair for the second consecutive year. A native of Mascoutah, Ill., Evans also participated in SEC Spring Meetings last year with six other student-athletes, and he represented the SEC at the NCAA Convention earlier this year. He is a member of Alabama’s nationally-ranked track and field team.
Doehler is a member of the top-ranked Texas swimming and diving team. A junior from San Antonio, Texas, Doehler has been named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team and was a member of the Big 12 Academic Honor Roll.
The SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Councils provide an opportunity for SEC student-athletes to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff. Leadership Councils for football and men’s and women’s basketball, along with SAAC, provide a conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness and playing rules.
