Gamecocks Close Fall Schedule at Georgia Tech Invitational
South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving will travel to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend, the final meet on their fall competition schedules.
COLUMBIA, S.C.— South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving will compete in the final meet on their fall schedules this weekend as the teams travel to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invitational which is scheduled to begin Thursday morning. The three-day meet, which will run from Nov. 15-17, will feature some of the top swimmers in the nation representing a total of 10 division I programs.
Each day of the GT Invite will consist of a morning session for preliminary heats, followed by an evening session for finals heats. The entirety of the invite will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra which can be accessed via watch.espn.com.
South Carolina has posted eight total top-25 times so far this season as Gamecocks swimmers have combined to put up six total NCAA B-cut times.
The Gamecocks will look to bounce back from a pair of road dual meet losses to No. 11 (women) and No. 9 (men) Georgia back on Nov. 3.

GAMECOCK NOTABLES:
– Emma Barksdale has placed first in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM in each of her last three races in each event. Barksdale improved on her 200 IM time in each of her three races this season and currently holds the ninth-fastest time in the nation.
– Lionel Khoo has tallied three total first-place finishes and has not finished lower than fourth in any race so far this season.
– Anton Down-Jenkins remains perfect on his young collegiate diving career, having won all six events that he’s competed in so far this season. Down-Jenkins put up a score of 355.35 on the 1-meter board and 384.38 off the 3-meter board the last time out at UGA.
– Melinda Novoszath swam a season-best 4:56.26 in the 500 free against North Carolina. Novoszath has finished top-three in nine total races so far this season.
– Kate Sanderson, an open-water distance swimmer when she’s not racing collegiately, has finished top-three in all four of her races in the 1000 free this fall, posting a season-best 9:53.79 against Arkansas.
– The Gamecock 400 free relay team of Novoszath, Christina Lappin, Emily Cornell, and Barksdale have finished first in both of their races together so far this season including a 3:21.14 against North Carolina which currently ranks 13th in the nation.
UP NEXT FOR THE GAMECOCKS
The Gamecocks now head into a dead period on their competition schedule and will return to action at home on Jan. 12, when they host a dual-meet against East Carolina.
