SANTA CLARA, Calif. South Carolina rising senior swimmer, Emma Barksdale, had a pair of top-six finishes over the weekend in the TYR Pro Swim Series from the George F. Haines International Swim Center while rising sophomore, Lionel Khoo, notched a pair of top-20 finishes.

Barksdale and Khoo were the lone South Carolina swimmers to compete in last weekend’s TYR Pro Swim Series event hosted by the Santa Clara Swim Club with one event remaining on this year’s schedule.

FRIDAY RECAP

Barksdale got her weekend started with a 4:51.14 in the women’s 400 IM prelims to qualify for the championship final after entering the event with the fourth fastest seed time. She then improved on that time by almost two full seconds with a 4:49.16 to finish in sixth-place in the evening’s championship final.

Khoo began his weekend by falling short of his qualifying time with a 2:22.61 in the prelims of the 200m breaststroke but came back to finish atop the C-final with a 2:20.18 in the evening session.

SATURDAY RECAP

Barksdale followed up her sixth-place finish with a fifth-place finish in both the prelims and championship heats of the women’s 200m IM with a 2:16.79 in the evening session.

Khoo swam a 1:03.40 to qualify for the B-final of the 100m breaststroke and improved his time to a 1:02.92 to finish 12th in the consolation final.

SUNDAY RECAP

Barksdale qualified for the consolation final of the women’s 400m freestyle by less than a tenth of a second and later finished the event in 18th with a 4:21.81 in the evening’s B-final.
