Gamecock Women Set for Road Meet vs. Arkansas Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 17 South Carolina women’s swimming and diving team heads to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon inside Arkansas Natatorium. Events will begin at 11 a.m. ET and live results will be available on the subscription-based Meet Mobile platform.

The Gamecock women are coming off a historical win over No. 12 Georgia, defeating the Bulldogs for the first time since 1985. Against UGA, USC claimed five individual event wins, highlighted by senior Sophie Verzyl, who swept the diving events.

Sophomore Nora Fluck set a new program record in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:43.81, claiming second in the event. Fellow sophomore Emma Reiser finished fourth, notching a time of 9:53.70.

Seniors Jordan Agliano, Dylan Scholes and Amy Riordan all picked up event wins in the 200 butterfly, 50 freestyle and 200 backstroke, respectively.  Junior Delaney Franklin grabbed the 200 breaststroke title with a time of 2:10.81, the seventh fastest time in program history. She finished second in the 100 breaststroke with the 10th fastest time in program history as well (1:01.67).

In the 200 medley relay, the team of Megan Maholic, Liz Goodwin-Birnie, Taylor Grimley and Kara West notched a time of 1:39.32, touching the wall just behind the Bulldogs.

The Arkansas women defeated Drury on Oct. 3, tallying 13 event wins, including a sweep of both relays. Senior Sydney Craft and freshman Ellen Garritson recorded two first-place finishes apiece.  Craft finished first in the 1000 freestyle and 200 butterfly, while Garritson secured the win in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke.

Sophomore diver Maria Sanchez-Moreno capped off her freshman season as the Razorbacks’ lone NCAA qualifier as she competed in all three diving events. She earned Honorable Mention All-American status after finishing 13th in the 3-meter dive.

At the 2025 SEC Championships, Arkansas placed 12th while the Gamecocks finished fifth.

This will be the 16th overall meeting between the two women’s programs with South Carolina holding a 11-4 advantage. The fellow SEC members meet for the first time since 2019.
