No. 9 Women’s Golf at Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. — South Carolina women’s golf sophomore Lois Kaye Go sits near the top of the individual leaderboard through one day of action at the Bryan National Collegiate. The Cebu City, Philippines, native opened with a first-round 71 (-1) Friday morning before carding a 73 (+1) in the afternoon to end the day in a tie for third place at even 144 through 36 holes.

The No. 9 Gamecocks sit in a tie for seventh place at 18-over 594. Carolina posted a first-round 296 (+8) and shot a 298 (+10) on its second set of 18 holes.

Go notched four birdies in round one, including back-to-back ones on Nos. 8 and 9. She shot par or better on each of her final five holes during the morning session in a stretch highlighted by birdies on Nos. 17 and 3. Go posted an up-and-down second round, racking up five bogeys, four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 third. She’ll enter the final round three shots off the individual lead.

Gamecock junior Marion Veysseyre sits in a tie for 16th after ending Friday at 4-over 148. She boasted a blistering start to the day, grabbing the individual lead at 4-under following a front-nine 32 (-4). The Lachapelle-Auzac, France, native went on to shoot a first-round 72 (E), and she fired a 4-over 76 in the afternoon. Veysseyre’s lone birdie in round two came on No. 3.

Carolina’s Ana Pelaez (T32, +6) responded from an opening-round 77 (+5) with a 1-over 73 Friday afternoon. The sophomore was steady in round two, totaling 13 pars to go with birdies on Nos. 2 and 15.

Senior Ainhoa Olarra and sophomore Anita Uwadia marked the other two golfers in Carolina’s lineup Friday. Olarra, who tallied four birdies over her first 36 holes, carded a 4-over 76 in both rounds to close today’s action in a tie for 43rd at 8-over 152. Uwadia will head into the final round in a tie for 69th after shooting a 79 (+7) in each of her first two rounds.

Gamecock junior Gaby Amos was also in action, competing as an individual. She opened the tournament with a 78 (+6) before racking up 14 pars in round two en route to a 5-over 77. Amos is currently tied for 58th at 11-over 155.

No. 24 North Carolina sits atop the leaderboard at 11-over 587, while No. 7 Furman (588, +12) is one shot off the lead in second place. Wake Forest’s Emilia Migliaccio holds the individual lead with a 36-hole mark of 141 (-3).
