Verzyl Earns SEC Diver of the Week
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina diver Sophie Verzyl earned her first SEC Diver accolade of the season, 10th of her career, the league announced Tuesday.
Verzyl led the way in both meets last week, earning four first-place finishes, two against No. 12 Georgia and two vs. Arkansas.
In the season opener, Verzyl spearheaded a Gamecock sweep on the 1-meter and 3-meter as she recorded scores of 336.45 and 395.78, respectively.
Against the Razorbacks, she finished strong, picking up both victories once again.
Verzyl capped off the 2024-25 season as an honorable mention All-American, finishing in the top 16 in the 1-meter dive at the NCAA Championships. At last season’s SEC Championships, she brought home gold for the Gamecocks in the 3-meter.
The Gamecocks return to action on Oct. 31 as they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. To take on Florida State. Events begin at 12 p.m.
