2026 SOUTH CAROLINA SPRING FOOTBALL GUIDE

QUICKLY: Year six of the Shane Beamer Era at South Carolina gets underway with the start of spring drills on Wednesday, March 4. The Gamecocks are scheduled to practice 15 times during the spring over a six-week period, concluding on Saturday, April 11.

WE’RE TALKIN’ ABOUT PRACTICE: Spring practices will be held at the football practice fields, located at the west end of Gamecock Park adjacent to the Long Family Football Operations Center, or in the Jerri and Steve Spurrier indoor practice facility. All practices are scheduled to begin at 9:30 am.

SNEAK PEEK: Regularly credentialed members of the media will have five chances to watch a portion of spring practice. The viewing dates are Wednesday, March 4, Wednesday, March 18, Wednesday, March 25, Tuesday, March 31, and Wednesday, April 8. Media will be allowed to watch the first three periods (approximately 25 minutes) on each of those dates. No live streaming will be allowed. Entrance to the practice fields will be at the gate between the indoor facility and the operations building. Media will be escorted in by the Carolina communications staff at approximately 9:38 am when the flex period begins and will be asked to stay on the south end of the practice fields near the indoor facility unless otherwise advised.

HEARING FROM THE HEAD COACH: Head coach Shane Beamer will hold five press conferences on Tuesdays during spring drills – March 3, 24 and 31 and April 7 and 14. Coach Beamer’s press conferences will begin at 1 pm and will be streamed live on the official website of South Carolina Athletics, Gamecocks Online.com.

OC/DC SOUND: Offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and defensive coordinator Clayton White will meet with the media twice during the spring – first on Monday, March 16, and again on Monday, April 6, beginning at 12:15 pm.

COACH SPEAK: The remaining eight on-field position coaches will each be made available to the media once during spring ball. Offensive line coach Randy Clements, run game coordinator/tight ends coach Shawn Elliott, outside linebackers/defensive ends coach Deion Barnes and defensive line coach Travian Robertson will be available on Monday, March 23. Assistant head coach – offense/running backs coach Stan Drayton, passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Mike Furrey, co-defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Torrian Gray, and special teams coordinator Matthew Smiley will be available on Monday, March 30. Both availabilities will begin at 12:15 pm.

WHAT DID THE GAMECOCKS SAY?: Requested and approved players will be available to meet with the media on five Wednesdays during the spring – March 4, 18, and 25, and April 1 and 8 – beginning around noon after practice. Player requests must be submitted to Steve Fink (finksc@mailbox.sc.edu) by 11 am on Monday, two days prior to the media availability. We will attempt to fulfill every request within reason. Please be aware that there is a finite amount of time to conduct the interviews and some players may have conflicts.

PRO TIMING DAY: South Carolina will hold its annual Pro Timing Day on Tuesday, March 17, when former Gamecocks will have their talents on display for NFL personnel. The event will begin in the weight room at the football ops facility beginning at 8 am before moving to the Jerri and Steve Spurrier indoor practice facility at approximately 9 am. Media will be able to observe the on-field portion of the workout. Selected players will be made available to the media as their schedule permits. Pro Day is closed to the public.

COACHING UP COACHES: The Sixth Annual Shane Beamer Football Coaches Clinic hosted by University of South Carolina, Head Coach Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Football Coaching Staff, will be held March 27-28. During the clinic attendees will be able to interact with the Gamecock coaching staff, learn from championship winning coaches, and talk a little football while enjoying great food and fellowship. Attendees will also be able to join the South Carolina Coaching Staff on the field for practice to observe demonstrations, drills and practice format. The entire staff including Directors of Strength & Conditioning, Operations, Recruiting, Nutrition, Sports Medicine and Player Development will be available to answer any questions about the program.
