EUGENE, Ore. – The largest Friday crowd in the NCAA’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships’ history was on-hand for the final day of the men’s competition at Hayward Field, and the Gamecocks would have two competitors performing in front of the 12,244 fans.

Up first was Dondre Echols in the 110m hurdles. He would run seventh overall, with a time of 13.84. The senior became the first Gamecock to earn first-team All-American honors in the 110m hurdles since Johnny Dutch in 2010, and ends his career by making the podium at the indoor and outdoor championships.

Jussi Kanervo finished out the day of finals for the team with his 400m hurdles race. The junior finished eighth overall in 52.11 seconds, making him the program’s first back-to-back first-team All-American in the event since Johnny Dutch in 2009 and 2010.

In the final team scoring, the men finished with five points. Florida won the overall team championship, followed by Arkansas and Texas A&M.

UP NEXT

Tomorrow will be the final day of the NCAA championships, with Gamecocks competing in two events. First will be Natasha Dicks in the triple jump, which begins at 6:30 p.m. ET. Closing the meet will be the women’s 4x400m relay, who finished fifth overall at the Thursday prelims. That race will go off at 8:50 p.m. ET.
