BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of South Carolina senior Lauren Lamendola was honored as Southeastern Conference Female Diver of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The SEC weekly honor is the first this season for the Pittsburgh, Pa., native.

Lamendola won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at East Carolina on Jan. 30. She posted a score of 312.75 to win the 1-meter, and her score of 352.57 set an ECU pool record in the 3-meter.

With Lamendola’s weekly award, the Gamecocks have now captured the last three SEC Female Diver of the Week laurels. Freshman Allyson Nied took the title on Jan. 19 after winning the platform dive at Georgia Tech, and on Jan. 26, junior Julia Vincent was honored for the second time this season after winning 1-meter and 3-meter crowns at South Carolina’s quad meet.

The Diver of the Week award is the first for Lamendola since Nov. 11, 2014, when she was honored by the conference for winning the 3-meter dive in a tri-meet with East Carolina and College of Charleston.

NOTABLE

  • In total, four Gamecocks have combined to win five SEC Diver of the Week honors in 2015-16. Vincent and Jordan Gotro each won the award on Oct. 27, 2015.
  • Lamendola is up to three individual victories this season and has 10 for her Gamecock career.

UP NEXT FOR CAROLINA

Lamendola and the Gamecocks start their postseason run at the SEC Championships, which will be held Feb. 16-20 in Columbia, Mo. Then a junior, Lamendola finished third in the 1-meter dive at last season’s conference clash.
