COLUMBIA, S.C. – Behind junior left fielder Alaynie Page’s second four-hit day in a week, South Carolina (23-12) downed North Florida 8-0 in five innings in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field.

Page doubled and tripled in her first two at-bats and added singles in the fourth and fifth, the final one adding her second RBI of the day and scoring the seventh run. Junior centerfielder Ansley Ard followed with a single to score the eighth and final run. Freshman Carolina Cash had a run-scoring double to score the first run of the fifth, and freshman Krystan White added the second with an RBI single.

Sophomore first baseman Kaylea Snaer hit a two-run blast in the first, while the Gamecocks added two more runs in the second on freshman Tiara Duffy’s fielder’s choice and Page’s triple.

Gamecock redshirt senior Julie Sarratt (11-7) tossed her fourth-consecutive complete game, giving up two walks and three hits in her third shutout of the season. UNF’s Shelby Duncan had two doubles against Sarratt. Kaylie Wallace (8-5) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on eight hits and four walks in four-plus innings of work.

Game Changer:
Sarratt kept the Ospreys off balance throughout the game and had two strikeouts.

Key Stat:
Eight different Gamecocks had hits, with three collecting doubles.

Notables:
• Sarratt’s shutout ties her with Kim Sheridan (1993-96) and Charity Ballard (1990-93) for 15th all-time with 10.
• The two K’s tie Sarratt with Kate Pouliot (2005-08) in eighth on the Gamecocks’ career listing with 360.
• Page’s triple tied her for 14th in SC history with former All-American Tiff Tootle (1990-93) with eight in her career.
• That triple, her sixth, also ties her for 15th in a single season at South Carolina with three others.
• The two RBI for Page knots her with four others in 19th at South Carolina with 86 in a career.
• Snaer’s home run gives her 12 in her career, tying her for 14th with four others in that spot.
