ATHENS, Ga. – Senior Patricia Kranz added her name to the list of Gamecock Divers who will advance to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships as she finished seventh in the women’s one-meter finals. The Gamecocks now have two men and two women qualified as sophomore Jordan Gotro, senior Cole Miller and freshman Julia Vincent earned their place at the Championships on the first day the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships.
Kranz totaled 570.10 points for her seventh-place finish in today’s finals after placing sixth in the preliminary with a score of 287.40. Vincent finished third in the one-meter finals with a total score of 604.85. She placed fourth in the preliminary with 301.35 points. Junior Lauren Lamendola also advanced to finals where she finished 12th overall (560.55). Freshman Marissa Roth finished 24th in the preliminary with a score of 243.20.
In the men’s three-meter competition Miller placed sixth with school-record 747.45 points. Gotro finished in 13th place with a total score of 678.50. The duo placed eighth and 12th, in the preliminary, respectively. Freshman Lyle Markman finished 32nd in the preliminary with 211.70 points.

“Patti (Patricia Kranz) was in a really tough spot tonight. Going into the day knowing you have to be in the top 10 is a lot of pressure and she did a good job dealing with that. I’m really happy for her. She’s worked hard all year and done everything right. Julia (Vincent) was very solid again. There’s a maturity in her that’s come through at this competition and she’s been a lot to fun to watch. Jordan (Gotro) did a great job and he just missed qualifying (on the three-meter), but he still has platform tomorrow and he’s a great platform diver. Cole broke the school record (three-meter – 12 dives) and he was really impressive all day long. I’m really proud of the way he performed. I’m very pleased with the whole team; they’ve done a great job. Overall it was a good day and we’re looking forward to the platform competition tomorrow.”
