CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The South Carolina women’s tennis team won 10 singles and two doubles matches on the second day of the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Saturday in North Carolina. A split squad played matches at North Carolina’s Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, while others played at Duke’s Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center in Durham.

Caroline Dailey and Brigit Folland combined for a victory against Duke’s Mulholland and Smith 8-4, while Megen Cochran and Alex Martin posted an 8-2 victory versus Camara and Lazarova of Elon. Hadley Berg and Meghan Blevins suffered an 8-4 setback to the Blue Devils’ Capra and Goldfeld.

Six members of the Gamecocks’ squad swept through East Carolina in a hidden dual. Dailey defeated Michelle Castro 6-3, 6-0, Blevins downed Nicole LaDuca 6-2, 6-3, and Berg ousted Dana Gray 6-4, 6-1. Ximena Siles Luna registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory, Natalie Looney won in three sets against Betsy Zurawel 6-4, 4-6, (10-8), and Folland scored a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Maria Gomez.

Folland, Martin and Alison Mills competed against Maryland and Virginia in a combined hidden dual. Folland defeated Olivia Gaudreault of Maryland 8-2, and Mills beat Cassandre Thebault 3-6, 7-5 (10-8), while Martin lost 6-1, 6-3 to Olga Bredikhina. Cochran took a 6-3, 6-1 loss to UVa’s Maci Epstein.

Cochran, Martin and Mills teamed up with North Carolina for a combined hidden dual versus NC State. Cochran scored a 4-6, 6-1, (10-6) win from Natalia Janowicz and Martin won in three sets versus Sophie Nelson 2-6, 6-4, (10-8). Tayla Stenta from the Wolfpack defeated Mills 6-3, 7-6(2).

Play in the Kitty Harrison Invitational concludes Sunday.
