GENERAL NOTES

• South Carolina fell to Missouri 21-20, the Gamecocks’ second loss of 2014, both in Southeastern Conference play.
• Captains for South Carolina were senior quarterback Dylan Thompson, sophomore linebacker Marcquis Roberts, senior offensive guard A.J. Cann and senior defensive tackle J.T. Surratt.
• Attendance for today’s game at Williams-Brice Stadium: 83,493. It’s the 18th largest crowd in facility history.
• Senior left guard A.J. Cann made his 43rd career start tonight, tying him for sixth on the career starts list with Todd Ellis (1986-89).
• South Carolina held the ball for 35:55 compared to 24:05 for Missouri.
• The Gamecocks’ eight penalties and 71 yards on those are the most this season.
• The loss is South Carolina’s first this season when leading at the half and after three quarters and when leading the time of possession.

OFFENSIVE NOTES

• Senior quarterback Dylan Thompson became the 13th Gamecock to throw for 3,000 yards in his career, breaking the barrier with his third completion of the night, a 27-yard pass to sophomore Pharoh Cooper.
• Thompson completed 21-of-37 passes for 219 yards and one touchdown.
• Junior tailback Mike Davis ran for 104 yards, moving into 19th on South Carolina’s career rushing yards list. He passed Rob DeBoer (1990-93) in the contest and now has 1,826 yards, 26 yards shy of tying Duce Staley (1995-96) and Andrew Pinnock (1999-2002) for 17th with 1,852 yards.
• Davis recorded the ninth 100-yard rushing game of his career, tied for sixth in Gamecock history, and his second of the season (101 vs. East Carolina). He also added 31 receiving yards.
• Senior wide receiver Nick Jones led South Carolina with five catches for 72 yards, including a 47-yard reception.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

• South Carolina forced Missouri into 10 punts on the night. The Gamecocks’ foes had punted eight times total in the first four games.
• The Tigers only went 2-for-16 on third downs against South Carolina’s defense. Missouri did go 3-for-3 on fourth-down tries.
• The eight tackles for loss by South Carolina doubles the previous high by the Gamecocks that came in the Georgia win.
• The Gamecocks’ eight quarterback hurries and four pass breakups are the most recorded by the team this season.
• Senior defensive tackle J.T. Surratt posted a career-best seven tackles, including his first sack of the year and 1.5 tackles for loss.
• Making his first start of the year, sophomore linebacker Marcquis Roberts recorded five solo tackles, including one for loss, as well as a quarterback hurry.
• Sophomore defensive end Gerald Dixon made three of his four tackles for loss, a new career high, with one going for a sack.
• Freshman linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams doubled his career quarterback hurries with two, adding to his three tackles.
• Senior spur Sharrod Golightly tallied two pass breakups, a new career best, to go with two tackles.
• While junior defensive end Mason Harris did not make a tackle, he was credited with two quarterback hurries.
