South Carolina batted around in the second inning to build a 5-0 lead against the Terriers. Grayson Greiner started it with a leadoff homer to left field, his team-leading eighth of the season. A walk to Joey Pankake and a pair of bunt singles by Tanner English and DC Arendas loaded the bases with no outs. Gene Cone walked to score Pankake and Patrick Harrington and Marcus Mooney both lifted sacrifice flies to score English and Arendas. Max Schrock would drive in Cone with a two-out RBI double.

Joey Pankake’s solo homer in the bottom of the third inning increased the Gamecock advantage to six runs. Pankake drove a 2-0 pitch from Wofford reliever Elliott Lance into the left field stands for his fourth home run of the season.

Seth Neely put Wofford on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a solo home run, his ninth homer of the season cutting the Gamecocks lead to 6-1.

South Carolina answered in the bottom half of the sixth though and batted around for a second time scoring six runs despite just one hit in the frame. Mooney reached base on a throwing error by Wofford shortstop Derek Hirsch and eventually scored on a wild pitch. After two-out walks to Greiner and Pankake, English would reach base to load the base on a fielding error by Eric Brenk. Consecutive walks to Arendas and Cone scored a pair of runs, as did back-to-back hit by pitches on Patrick Harrington and Mooney. Schrock would also drive in a run with a infield single as the Gamecocks pushed the lead to 12-1.

Carolina would score three more runs in the eighth inning. Logan Koch and Jordan Gore each walked followed by a base hit by English to load the bases again. Arendas would walk for the second time to score Koch, a double play ball would score Gore and Harrington would drive in English with a two-out RBI single.

South Carolina begins a three-game home series vs. Missouri on Friday night. First pitch is 7 p.m. with the game televised on SportSouth and available on the Gamecock IMG Network including flagship station, 107.5 FM, “The Game.”

A note to fans, the South Carolina baseball gameday shuttle location will be moved to Capital City Baseball Stadium for this weekend’s series vs. Missouri from Friday, May 9 – Sunday, May 11. The shuttle move is to alleviate anticipated parking problems associated with USC Graduation on Friday and Saturday and the Vice President’s arrival on campus on Friday. The change in location will ensure that the USC Baseball traffic does not coincide with the USC Commencement traffic.

The street address for Capital City Baseball Stadium is 301 Assembly St., SC 29201. Shuttle operation and times will remain the same.
