The University of South Carolina football team moved up one spot in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll but fell one spot in the Associated Press poll released this afternoon.
The Gamecocks (8-2, 6-2 SEC) moved from 12th to 11th in the Coaches’ poll, but slipped from 11th to 12th in the writers’ poll following a hard-fought 19-14 win over Florida on Saturday night.
The Gamecocks fell one spot to No. 11 in the BCS Standings that were released Sunday night.
Alabama (10-0) and Florida State (10-0) continue to hold down the top two spots in both polls. The coaches have Ohio State (10-0) ahead of Baylor (9-0) for the next two spots, while the A.P. has the Bears one notch ahead of the Buckeyes. Oregon (9-1) rounds out the top-5 in both polls.
Auburn (10-1), Missouri (9-1) and Texas A&M (8-2) join Alabama as SEC teams in the top-10.
The Gamecocks have been ranked for a school record 60-consecutive polls, tying Stanford for the fifth-longest current streak in the country behind Alabama, LSU, Oregon and Oklahoma.
South Carolina will host instate FCS opponents Coastal Carolina (10-1, 4-1 Big South) in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, November 23, at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Single tickets remain on sale for that contest.
