COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina opens SEC action this week as the team heads to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete against Tennessee at the Jones Acquatic Center on Friday at noon.

SERIES HISTORY
The mens team is 2-22 all-time against Tennessee, while the Gamecock women have faired much better with a 12-14 record in dual meets.

LAST TIME VS. TENNESSEE
Despite several strong performances against Tennessee when the two school’s last met in 2011, the South Carolina swimming and diving teams dropped both the men and women’s meets against Tennessee at the Blatt P.E. Center/Carolina Natatorium. The Gamecock men fell to the Vols, 167-132, while the Carolina women lost to the Lady Vols, 174-124. The Gamecocks tallied 13 wins in 32 events, including two apiece from senior diver Courtney Forcucci and sophomore Gerard Rodriguez.

SCOUTING TENNESSEE
Both the men and women are 1-0 on the year after defeating UNC-Wilmington on Sept. 27. The Vols picked up their win with a score of 167-133, while the Lady Vols recorded a 178-116 victory.

SEC HONOR TO OPEN SEASON
Junior Patricia Kranz was named SEC Female Diver of the Week (10/15) after winning the three-meter springboard at the dual meet against College of Charleston. She earned the honor after placing first in the three-meter and taking second in the one-meter board. Her mark of 369.23 points was just shy of a career mark in the event. She finished with 303.52 points in the one-meter. Her score in the three-meter currently ranks first in the SEC, while her one-meter score ranks second in the conference.
