The University of South Carolina football squad worked out Tuesday afternoon at the Bluff Road “Proving Grounds.” The Gamecocks (9-2) are preparing for Saturday’s regular season finale at Clemson (10-1).
“They’ve done a tremendous job all season,” said defensive line coach Brad Lawing of the Clemson offense. “They’ve got the best offense we’ve faced this season. They’re averaging 200 yards a game rushing, so we’ve got to stop the run and affect the quarterback and see where that goes from there.”
Lawing confirmed that sophomore defensive end, a finalist for the Nagurski Trophy, the Lombardi Award and the Bednarik Award, practiced today, but is not 100 percent. “He’s still hobbled around a little bit, but he practiced,” said Lawing.
Junior quarterback Connor Shaw did not practice on Tuesday. He has a foot injury that he re-injured in the win over Wofford.
The Gamecocks will practice again on Wednesday afternoon.
The Carolina – Clemson game is set for Saturday, Nov. 24, from Clemson’s Memorial Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET and the contest will be televised nationally on ESPN.
