OFFENSE

  • Junior wide receiver Alshon Jeffery moved to ninth place (2,865) on the all-time SEC career receiving yards list with his five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in the game. He is now tied for second on the consecutive games with a reception list with his 34th-straight game with a catch.
  • True freshman running back Brandon Wilds rushed for 109 yards on 20 carries and two rushing touchdowns in the game, marking the third time he has rushed for over 100 yards in a game this year. Wilds’ two touchdowns marked the first multi-rushing touchdown game of his career. He also set a career long rush record with a 47-yard sprint in the third quarter.
  • Sophomore wide receiver DeAngelo Smith made his first career start.
  • Kenny Miles logged his longest rush of the year with a 15-yard carry late in the second quarter. Miles rushed for 38 yards on five carries in the game.
  • Connor Shaw’s 60-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter marked his longest rush of the season and the team’s third-longest rush of the year. Shaw finished the game with 90 yards rushing, setting a career high.
  • Shaw threw for 217 yards and was 16-of-18 passing on the day, including three touchdowns, to give him nine scores through the air this year. His .889 completion percentage for the game was the highest completion percentage of his career (minimum five attempts).
  • Sophomore wide receiver Ace Sanders caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Shaw in the third quarter. The reception was his second touchdown of the year.
  • Tight end Rory Anderson caught his second touchdown of the year on a 20-yard connection from Shaw in the fourth quarter.
  • The Gamecocks put together two 91-yard scoring drives in the game.
  • South Carolina rushed for 256 yards on the day, which is the third-highest mark for a Gamecock offense under head coach Steve Spurrier.
  • South Carolina was 3-for-3 on fourth down attempts for the game, moving the Gamecocks to 69% on the year (18/26)
  • The Gamecocks’ second score of the game came off an 18-play, 9:18 drive, marking the second-longest drive (time) under Spurrier. The 18 plays tie for the second-longest drive (Wofford 9/20/08) in the Spurrier era as well.

DEFENSE

  • Senior spur Antonio Allen collected five tackles, including one tackle for loss, and forced his fourth fumble of the year late in the third quarter. The fumble was recovered by a Bulldog player for a loss of nine yards.
  • Senior linebacker Rodney Paulk led the team with 12 tackles, a career high. He also added a forced fumble and a tackle for loss on the afternoon.
  • The Garnet and Black defense allowed only eight yards passing for the game, which is the fewest passing yards allowed in a game by a Gamecock defense under Spurrier.

SPECIAL TEAMS

  • Melvin Ingram rushed for a 19-yard gain on a fake punt in South Carolina territory, giving him two rushes for 87 yards on the year (43.5 yds/carry)

GENERAL

  • Brandon Wilds’ one-yard rushing touchdown on the opening drive of the game was the first time that Carolina scored first in a game this year.
