July 20, 2011

The University of South Carolina’s season opening football game against East Carolina has been set for a 7 p.m. ET kick. The non-conference battle will take place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. and will be televised by FOX Sports Net (FSN).

All SEC football games on FSN will be televised live in high definition and distributed to more than 22 million cable and satellite households on the FSN regional networks throughout the SEC territory: FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Carolinas, FOX Sports Tennessee, Sun Sports, FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports Houston.

Veteran play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun, analyst Tim Couch and sideline reporter Kristina Akra will call every SEC game on FSN this season. Rathbun has called SEC football since its inaugural season on FSN in 2009. Couch, the former University of Kentucky All-American quarterback and top pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, enters his second season as FSN’s SEC football analyst, and Akra, who joined SEC Gridiron LIVE last year, begins her first season on FSN’s SEC game broadcast team.

The 2011 contest will mark the 16th meeting on the gridiron between the two schools. South Carolina holds a 10-5 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to 1977. The most recent meeting came in 1999. The teams are slated to meet again in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
