University of South Carolina junior quarterback Stephen Garcia has been selected as Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week and the Davey O’Brien national Quarterback of the Week, it was announced today.

Garcia, a 6-2, 227-pounder from Lutz, Fla., threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns as 19th-ranked South Carolina recorded a 35-21 win over top-ranked Alabama. Garcia completed 17-of-20 passes and had scoring tosses of nine, 26 and 15 yards for the Gamecocks, who improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the SEC.

On Sunday, Garcia was named the national Offensive Player of the Week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. In addition, he is one of four players under consideration for the Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week. Fans can vote for Garcia at ESPN.com.

The Gamecocks will put their Associated Press Top-10 ranking on the line next Saturday night when they travel to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats (3-3, 0-3 SEC). Game time is set for 6 p.m. ET and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
