The South Carolina football squad climbed five spots to the number 17 position in both the Associated Press and USA TODAY/Coaches polls released today. The Gamecocks are ranked among the nation’s Top-25 squads for the 11th consecutive week.
The Gamecocks (7-3, 5-3 SEC) clinched the Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division title for the first time in school history with an impressive 36-14 win in Gainesville over the Florida Gators on Saturday night.
South Carolina has two non-conference foes remaining on its regular season slate. The Gamecocks will host Troy (5-4, 4-2 Sun Belt Conference) on Saturday, November 20, at 12:21 p.m. in the 2010 home finale. That contest will be televised on the SEC Network. The Gamecocks will then travel to Clemson for the annual Palmetto State showdown on Saturday, November 27.
South Carolina will face SEC Western Division Champion Auburn (11-0, 7-0 SEC) on Saturday, December 4 in Atlanta for the SEC championship. Auburn is ranked second in the nation in both polls this week. It will be Carolina’s first trip to the SEC title game.
