Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina freshman running back Marcus Lattimore and senior punter/place-kicker Spencer Lanning each earned conference player of the week honors from the SEC. Lattimore was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week with Lanning earning Special Teams Player of the Week accolades following this past Saturday’s 34-16 win over Florida to clinch the SEC Eastern Division title.

Lattimore carried a school-record 40 times for 212 yards (8th highest in school history) and three TDs in the win. He also caught two passes for 31 yards. On the season, he established a school freshman record for rushing yards in a season (964). His three TD’s gives him 16 on the season, breaking the school’s freshman record of 13 and tying for the school’s overall single season mark. This is the third time this season that Lattimore has earned a weekly SEC award as he was SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week following the Georgia win and SEC Tri-Freshman of the Week after the win over Tennessee.

After missing an early extra point, Lanning was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, hitting from 49, 47 and 41 yards out, all in the first half. He also punted six times for a 43.7 yard average with a long of 49 yards. Lanning’s first field goal was a 49-yarder that put the Gamecocks on the scoreboard in the first quarter. His second two field goals were in the second quarter and gave Carolina a 15-7 halftime lead. The average starting field position for Florida’s six drives started by Lanning’s punts was the 20-yard line.
