The No. 19/20 South Carolina Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1 SEC) were back at the Bluff Road “Proving Grounds” Wednesday afternoon as they continued preparations for Saturday contest with Alabama.

“I just want to encourage all of our fans and our students to really be a class act this weekend,” said head coach Steve Spurrier following the workout. “GameDay is here. The whole nation will be watching. I think the last time they were here, some of our students or fans were giving Lee Corso some grief. I know he did say that it’s almost impossible to win the SEC here, but I guarantee he’d love to see South Carolina win it. He would love to crawl across Williams-Brice Stadium and salute the fans. That’s what he said he’d do if we ever win it. He was just trying to mention how difficult it was since we’ve not really been all that close in our history. Lee Corso is a good person and a good man,” the Head Ball Coach continued. “I guarantee he roots for us most of the time. I hope our fans and students will really show the country that we are a class bunch of people here in Columbia and we’ll have a big Saturday.”

The Gamecocks will host the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0, 2-0 SEC) at 3:39 p.m. on Saturday, October 9. The game will be televised nationally on CBS with Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson in the booth and Tracy Wolfson working the sidelines. In addition, the CBS College Sports Network’s SEC Tailgate Show will air live from the fairgrounds from 2-3 p.m.

ESPN’s College GameDay presented by The Home Depot will also be live from Columbia on Saturday. That three-hour show will be held at the historic Horseshoe in the middle of the University of South Carolina campus beginning at 9 a.m. The first hour will be televised on ESPNU, while the final two hours can be seen on ESPN.

The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
