The South Carolina football squad slipped in the national polls this week following its first loss of the season, a 35-27 setback at nationally-ranked Auburn on Saturday night.

The Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1 SEC) are ranked 19th in this week’s Associated Press poll and 22nd in the latest USA TODAY/Coaches poll, both released today. They dropped seven spots in both polls after being ranked 12th and 15th in last week’s polls, respectively.

The Gamecocks will enjoy an off week this week before they host the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0, 1-0 SEC) on Saturday, Oct. 9. The Crimson Tide is ranked No. 1 in the country in both national polls this week. They will host Florida on Saturday, Oct. 2.
