OXFORD, Miss. – The 25th-ranked South Carolina women’s tennis team moved to 2-0 in the SEC with a 4-1 dismantling of host Ole Miss Sunday afternoon.
Carolina (8-1, 2-0 SEC) jumped out of the gates in stellar fashion, taking two-of-three doubles matches to claim an early 1-0 lead in the match. The Gamecocks’ top two teams of Jennifer Radman/Kathy Boyanovich and Lynn-Yin Tan/Jodi Kenoyer each claimed easy wins. Radman/Boyanovich beat Ignatieva/Adams 8-3 at No. 1 doubles while Tan/Kenoyer destroyed Harboe/Basile 8-0.
In singles action, USC did not waste any time, winning three of the first four matches to claim the team match. In fact, USC held leads in the remaining two singles matches when those two contests were suspended upon match clinching by the Gamecocks.
Radman claimed a hard fought three-set win at No. 2 singles, outlasting Alesya Ignatieva 7-5, 4-6, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Boyanovich beat Karem Harboe 6-0, 7-5 while Lynn-Yin Tan pulled down another win at No. 4 singles, beating Sabrina Peppl 6-2, 6-4.
Ole Miss (6-3, 0-2 SEC) got their lone point at No. 1 singles, as Mira Radu beat Katarina Markovski 6-2, 6-0.
Carolina is back in action Friday afternoon when they host LSU at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center on the USC campus.
