Winston-Salem, N.C. — Gamecock women’s tennis senior Tamara Sutton and junior Jodi Kenoyer both advanced into round two of the Omni Hotels Southeast Region Championships with opening round wins Friday on the campus of Wake Forest University.

Kenoyer improved to 6-1 on the fall season with her dominating 6-2, 6-1 win over Appalachian State’s Tammy Beaulieu. Kenoyer advances to face Wake Forest’s Katie Martzolf in the second round. Martzolf was a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 upset winner over the tournament’s top seed, Duke’s Amanda Johnson. Kenoyer and Martzolf take the courts at 6:00 p.m. Saturday.

Joining Kenoyer in the second round is Carolina senior Tamara Sutton. The Miami, Fla., native toppled N.C. State’s Jackie Leskovar 6-1, 6-4. Sutton, now 6-1, will compete in second round action Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Freshman Magda Wojdylo fell to Kentucky’s Leigh Bradwell 6-2, 7-5 Friday morning.

In doubles action, the Carolina team of Kenoyer/Wojdylo lost a second round match to Duke’s Adams/Arasu, the tournament’s No. 13 seed, by an 8-5 score. Kenoyer/Wojdylo reached the second round with an 8-2 win over N.C. A&T’s Johnson/Madyun late Thursday.
