COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 23rd-ranked South Carolina women’s tennis team ran its winning streak to six matches with a decisive 6-1 win over visiting Arkansas Sunday afternoon in SEC league action.

With the win, the Gamecocks move to 4-0 in the SEC for the third time in 11 seasons of competition in the nation’s toughest league.

South Carolina (10-1, 4-0 SEC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match by winning the doubles point, something the Gamecocks have done 10 times in as many tries this season. At No. 1 doubles, Jennifer Radman and Kathy Boyanovich beat Anna Dybicz and Monika Dybicz 8-3. USC clinched the match at No. 2 doubles as Lynn-Yin Tan and Jodi Kenoyer improved to 21-2 on the year with an 8-5 victory over Simona Arghire and Iliana Pacheco.

Arkansas (4-7, 0-4 SEC) picked up a 9-8 (3) win at No. 3 doubles as Megan Ferreira and Adriana Lopez beat Katarina Markovski and Ayako Suzuki.

Gamecock senior Tamara Sutton picked up her 89th career win with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Megan Ferreira. Sutton’s win stretched the Carolina lead to 2-0. Katarina Markovski picked up a win at No. 1 singles just moments later, registering a 6-2, 7-5 defeat over Simona Arghire.

USC clinched the match when senior Lynn-Yin Tan notched her 97th career win, beating Anna Dybicz at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-3. Tan, with just three more singles wins this season, would become only the third South Carolina women’s tennis player to secure 100 career singles wins. Tan is already the school’s all-time leader in doubles wins with 94.

Other singles winners for Carolina were: Ayako Suzuki (defeated Iliana Pacheco 4-6, 6-2, 6-1) and Kathy Boyanovich (defeated Monika Dybicz 6-2, 5-7, 6-2).

Arkansas picked up a win at No. 4 singles after Carolina had already clinched when Adriana Lopez defeated Jodi Kenoyer 6-4, 6-2.
