Women’s Tennis Completes Day One at SEC Fall Championships

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – South Carolina senior Katarina Markovski’s two opening day singles wins, which advanced her in the A draw, highlighted Gamecock women’s tennis results Friday in the SEC Fall Coaches’ Championships at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Markovski, from Valjevo, Yugoslavia, beat Danielle Petrisko of Kentucky 6-0, 6-1 and later beat Tennessee’s Breanna Kray 6-2, 6-3 in Friday action. Also advancing for USC was freshman Audrey George, a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Auburn’s Katie Greenberg in the C draw.

Five other Gamecocks saw singles action, with each splitting a pair of opening day matches. Junior Jodi Kenoyer was a first round winner over Kentucky’s Jill Buckley, 6-2, 7-6, before falling in the second round to Tennessee’s Agnes Wiski 6-2, 6-4. Additionally, freshman Magda Wojdylo won her first match by a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Kentucky’s Whitney Collins. Wojdylo fell in the nightcap to LSU’s Amanda Mang 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles action, the Gamecocks had two teams win first round matches. Kenoyer and Lynn-Yin Tan beat LSU’s Mang/McIlhaney 9-7 while Markovski and Wojdylo downed Auburn’s Janska/Woods 8-3.
