The South Carolina women’s golf team shot a 303 Friday, good enough for fifth place after one round of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic. The Lady Gamecocks trail four other SEC teams led by Auburn who fired a 290.

South Carolina junior All-American Kristy McPherson leads the way for the Lady Gamecocks, firing an even-par 72 and is currently tied for fourth place. Sophomore Adrienne Gautreaux was close behind firing a one-over 73 and is tied for sixth place. The remaining of the Lady Gamecocks scoring was junior Kacy Thompson (77, T26), freshman Tiffany Catafygioutu playing for individual honors only (77, T26) sophomore Marci Robinson (81, T52), and senior Reetta Laakkonen (83, T59).

Auburn at 290 leads the team competition by seven strokes over LSU who fired a 297. Vanderbilt is in third place with a 300 followed by Alabama at 302. South Carolina rounds out the top five one stroke back of Alabama at 303.

In the individual competition, Celeste Troche of Auburn, Meredith Duncan, and Lindy Hitdlebaugh both of LSU are in a three-way tie for first place. Each fired a one-under 71 on Friday, while Bernadette Luse of Mississippi and Kristy McPherson of South Carolina fired an even-par 72 and are tied for fourth place.
