Game Ten Quotes (#3 South Carolina vs. #2 Georgia)

South Carolina Quotes

Head Coach Joyce Compton: “Georgia had a difficult time today. They came off of a tough loss. The UCLA game was very emotional for them, and then to come right back and play us, it’s totally different. That was a big factor for us. We had been sitting around all day and were able to jump on them early and get some momentum and make it a little tougher on them at that point. It was big for us to come out and swing right away. We felt like we could hit because we have been hitting well of late. We felt confident coming in. It was such an emotional turn-around for Georgia that we had the edge in this game.”

Second Baseman Debralee Troesh: “The homerun felt really good. It was my first one ever in college. I have been really confident up at the plate this weekend. I have felt like I was hitting the ball well and I’m glad that one finally went over the fence. I’m glad it came right now. I think this win was huge. It’s good to know we are still in regionals and playing this deep in the season. We have had a lot of really close games with Georgia and unfortunately have not come out on top in all of them, so this win felt really good.”

Georgia Quotes

Head Coach Lu Harris-Champer: “I am so proud of the team this year. We showed here that we are a force to be reckoned with. It was tough to come out and play so well against UCLA and then turn right around and have to play 30 minutes later, but that is no excuse for us. It wasn’t the performance that we wanted to have in that game. They came out and fought after the loss and had a tough game against Carolina, but we just didn’t get it done.”

Shortstop Michelle Tyree: “Against UCLA it could have gone either way. We played really well against them and then to come out here and lose like this to Carolina was hard. A lot of us were drained, but that didn’t take us out of it. We came up and tied the game and had a chance to win. We just didn’t pull it out. We never gave up; it just seems that their hits fell harder then ours did.”
