COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina baseball team (48-14) has earned one of the top eight national seeds for the NCAA Tournament and will host an NCAA Regional this weekend, May 31-June 2. The Gamecocks are the No. 6 national seed in this year’s tournament. North Carolina (40-19), Virginia Commonwealth (38-24) and James Madison (43-14) are the other three teams selected for the Columbia Regional.

James Madison and North Carolina will kick off the regional on Fri., May 31 with a 2 p.m. start, while USC will play Virginia Commonwealth at 7 p.m. Game times for Saturday are 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. while the final game will be Sun. at 1:30 p.m. An if necessary game would be held at 5:30 p.m.

This is the third consecutive year for South Carolina to host a regional. The 2000 and 2001 Gamecock squads each earned regional championships and advanced to the super regionals.

Tickets for the NCAA regional will go on sale to the general public at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28. Tickets may be purchased at the USC ticket office or by calling 803-777-4274 or 1-800-4SC-FANS. Ticket prices for adults are $60.00 for the entire regional tournament with USC students and youth ticket prices at $40.00. The limit of tickets to purchase is four. Tickets were previously on sale to baseball season ticket holders, Gamecock Club members and USC students, faculty and staff.
