Justin Harris, a junior centerfielder and second baseman on the University of South Carolina baseball team, is scheduled to travel later this afternoon to Omaha, Neb., where the Gamecocks are preparing for the 2002 NCAA College World Series. Harris still remains under suspension, however. The suspension came late Monday following his involvement in an on-campus incident earlier Monday morning.

The Longwood, Fla., native has started all 69 games for USC this season and is batting .286 with 15 doubles, four home runs and 28 RBIs.

“I have visited with Justin and he has expressed remorse and regret for the poor decision he made,” said USC head coach Ray Tanner. “He’s not making the trip with us tonight and his status for the World Series is still questionable.”
