Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina football team took time out of their busy schedules to visit the Richland County Library for the fifth annual Pigskin Poets.

Over thirty athletes, including Corey Jenkins, Rod Thomas, Daniel Weaver and Jeff Barnes, interacted with the anxious chldren. Three hundred kids took part in various activies with the football players, including autograph signings, playing a game of Simon Says and book readings.

“I have looked forward to this event every year,” commented Rod Thomas. “It’s a pleasure to be with the kids and have some fun and show them that we care about them. It also helps to get kids interested in reading books at an early age.”

Pigskin Poets is part of the Richland County Library’s summer reading program.
