Columbia, S.C. – After one round of the 2002 Eastern Amateur, Gamecock Alex Hamilton is tied for fifth place after blasting a four-under-par 68. USC teammate, Jake Thompson, fired a first round score of 69, tying him for seventh. Other South Carolina notables in this year’s event are Michael Maness (76),Lee Taylor (77) and Jason Huguet (79).

J.T. Belcher leads the tournament after firing 65, seven-under-par.

The second round of the four-day event begins on Friday, July 12 at 8:00 a.m.
