“Recapping last week’s game and looking over the film, we did some good things. I thought defensively we did an excellent job, with only two lapses on defense.”

“It appears Dennis Quinn won’t be available this week, so you’re back to square one. What do we do at defensive end? Now without Lance Laury and Dennis Quinn I’m not sure what we do.”

“Langston Moore continues to play well, he gets double and triple teamed. I thought our linebackers really showed up. Jeremiah Garrison, Jermaine Lemon and George Gause were excellent. It was probably the best performance by our secondary. Dunta Robinson, I’ve been saying all along that I thought he was a great cornerback, and he showed that. I thought Deandre Eiland came back and played well. We put Matthew Thomas back there and he gave up the one big play, but he did a lot of good things while he was in there.”

“Offensively, losing Corey Jenkins hurts us. We lost him in the middle of 3rd quarter and he has a high ankle sprain. I could not begin to tell you whether Corey Jenkins will be available this week or not. If he is not, I’m not sure who the starting quarterback will be. It could be Dondrial Pinkins, it could be Erik Kimrey. Dondrial Pinkins does some very nice things, but we have trouble putting the ball in the endzone.”

“I think Kenny Irons played very well and played well off the football. With the exception of too many mental errors and missed assignments, I was very pleased with Na’Shan Goddard’s play at center.”

“I want to pay special tribute to a young man named Ryan Brewer. Ryan Brewer is playing very well, but he is playing one leg. He never says a word, but his ankle is hurting badly. He doesn’t have near the quickness or sharpness he has had, but he is really playing well.”

“I think we are starting to come together and play with a little bit of confidence. I think we are playing with a little bit more expectation of ourselves. The offensive line we have to improve in that area. Jabari Levey got some playing time and performed well when he was in there. There might be a change at right tackle with Watts Sanderson and Jeff Barnes. We will ascertain who will be the starting right tackle based on practice this week.”

“Looking at Kentucky, this is a different Kentucky football team. They’re 4-1 and our number one in the conference in scoring averaging 41 points a game. Offensively, they have maybe the best tailback in the conference in Artose Pinner. He just makes all kind of plays, averaging about seven yards per carry, but he is also their leading receiver. He is the biggest difference in Kentucky’s offense from last year.”

“The thing about Kentucky is that they have great chemistry. I don’t think there is any doubt that Jared Lorenzen is the catalyst and leader of the football team and they have rallied around him. They have a cause, being on probation. Offensive line is playing physical and know if they have a decent block that Pinner will do a lot with it. Lorenzen has thrown 14 touchdowns with just three interceptions.”
