COLUMBIA, S.C. –
When South Carolina kicks off its game against the
Tennessee Volunteers this Saturday at 3:30 p.m.,
expect to see a sea of garnet. The Student Gamecock
Club is sponsoring “Garnet Gameday” for the
Carolina-Tennessee football game and is asking all
Carolina fans to wear as much Garnet as possible to
the stadium Saturday.
“We hope that all USC fans will wear garnet to the
game on November 2nd,” said Student Gamecock Club
President Chris Odum. “We want to support our football
team in every way possible and hope by doing this, it
will show unity and support for our football team.”
The Carolina-Tennessee game will be broadcast on
national television on CBS. “We can show the nation
that the best college football fans are at
Williams-Brice Stadium every Saturday cheering on the
Gamecocks to victory.”
“Let the pride and enthusiasm carry over from the fans
in the stadium to the players on the field,” added
Student Gamecock Club Vice-President Brandon
Bookstaver. “We can help make gameday at
Williams-Brice Stadium on November 2nd a Garnet
victory!”
The Student Gamecock Club was also the sponsor of
“Blackout” last year when South Carolina hosted
Florida on national television. Success of that
“Blackout” was amazing as nearly all 84,900 fans that
were at Williams-Brice Stadium that night wore black
to support the Gamecocks. This will be South
Carolina’s fifth televised game of the 2002 season and
the second in which the game has been aired live by CBS.
