Nashville, TN – The No. 10-ranked Vanderbilt women’s tennis team picked up its third-consecutive Southeastern Conference win on Friday, as it defeated No. 24-ranked South Carolina, 7-0, at the Brownlee O. Currey Tennis Center. The Commodores have now defeated the Gamecocks five straight times. With the win, Vanderbilt moves to 12-3 overall and 3-2 in the SEC, while South Carolina falls to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

The Commodores took all three double matches easily over USC. Riske and Tsoubanos defeated Boyanovich and Wojdylo 8-3 while Menees and Schellhas defeated Brown and George at number three doubles 8-2. Wiggins and Kenoyer dropped their first dual match of the season 8-5 to Schmandt and Falk.

In singles, the Gamecocks forced three singles matches to go to three sets but the Gamecocks could not pull it out in the end. Kenoyer took the first set at the number two singles 6-2 but loss the remaining two sets 6-2,6-4. Wojdylo loss the first set to Schellhas 7-5 but forced a third set tiebreaker with a 7-6 win in the second set. Schellhas finally defeated Wojdylo with a 10-6 victory in the tie break. Brown took the second set of the number five singles 6-4 but loss the opener 6-4 and then loss the tie break 10-3. Boyanovich, Wiggins and Walsh were all defeated in straight sets. USC returns home to face Kentucky on Sunday at 1pm at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Facility.
