Columbia, S.C. – Coming off two consecutive third place finishes, the University of South Carolina men’s golf team is set to compete in the EZ-Go Shenkel Invitational. The two-day tournament will be held Sat.-Sun. March 22-23 at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
The 15-team field will be comprised of Auburn, Augusta State, Clemson, Duke East Tennessee State, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Southern, LSU, North Carolina, N.C. State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wake Forest.
After posting his fifth top 10 finish, Eirik Johansen will lead the Gamecocks this weekend. Martin Rominger will start in the second slot, followed by Alex Hamilton, who is coming off his best finish of the season – third place at the Palmetto-Cleveland Golf Collegiate. West Streib will tee-off in the fourth spot, while Nash Elliot closes out the five-man squad.
The teams play 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Both rounds on Saturday will be shot-gun starts with the first round teeing-off at 8:00 a.m. The golf tournament can be followed live on the internet at www.golfstat.com.
