Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina posted a three-round score of 869 (293-287-289) to finish in seventh place at the E-Z-GO invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. Wake Forest captured the team title with 844, followed by Clemson and Southeastern Conference foe Georgia.

This year’s field showcases 12 teams that are currently ranked in the GolfWeek Ranking top 50.

“We played a solid game this weekend,” commented Puggy Blackmon. “We beat some ranked teams at this tournament, including No. 3 Augusta State. I think this tournament will give the team more confidence in their playing ability.”

Eirik Johansen, posting his seventh top 20 score, shot 213 to finish in 11th place. This marks the fifth of six tournaments that Johansen has led the Gamecocks.

Nash Elliot finished in a tie for 20th after firing even-par 216. Blasting five birdies in round three, Martin Rominger shot three-under-par 69 to conclude this weekend’s tournament. Rominger’s three-round score of 217 earned him a 26th place finish.

Landing in the 55th spot was Alex Hamilton with a score of 224. Rounding out the five-man squad was West Streib, shooting 226.

South Carolina will take two weeks off before returning to action on April 5-6 at the Cleveland Golf-ASU Invitational in Augusta, Ga.
