COLUMBIA, S.C. – Jonathan Jackson shot an even-par score during first round play at the 2003 Golf Design/Izod Club Carolinas Open – presented by Coastal Federal Bank. Jackson’s even-par 71 put him in a tie for 39th place and set him seven strokes behind the leader, Jeff Lankford.

The Carolinas Open field, held at Surf Golf and Beach Club in N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., includes the top golf professionals and low handicap amateurs throughout North and South Carolina. The field will be reduced to the low 60 contestants and ties upon completion of 36 holes for the final round. Jackson, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., will be a redshirt sophomore next year for the Gamecocks.
