COLUMBIA, S.C. – Gamecock golfer and Aiken, S.C. native, Alex Hamilton shot a 71 during final round play at the Porter Cup. Hamiton finished the 72-hole medal play tournament in 15th place with a score of 276 (67-67-71-71). Casey Wittenberg of Memphis, Tenn., was the medalist with a fourteen-under-par 266 (64-67-69-66). The 45th Annual Porter Cup was held at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, N.Y.

The Porter Cup is the second ranked amateur tournament in the United States. Twenty-six of the top thirty-two amateur golfers as ranked by Golfweek/Titleist participated in the Porter Cup. Hamilton entered the tournament ranked 40th. Current PGA Tour stars such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Davis Love III, Tom Lehman and Justin Leonard are just a few of the golfers who have competed as amateurs for the Porter Cup in the past.
