Columbia, S.C. –

* Injury report heading into the UVA game: RB Demetris Summers (bruised ribs) and DE George Gause (hip strain). Both are expected to play this Saturday against the Cavaliers. LB Ricardo Hurley (ankle) is listed as doubtful.

* South Carolina vs. Virginia is set for this Saturday, Sept. 6 at Williams-Brice Stadium. Jefferson-Pilot Sports will televise the game regionally beginning at 12:30 p.m. The game is a sell out.

* Comments from Lou Holtz Sunday teleconference: “We did not play very well up front. Our offensive line got beaten physically and we did not control the line of scrimmage. We had 10 dropped passes that hurt us. I’m not sure what the answers are for our offensive line right now. Dondrial Pinkins did a pretty good job of making decisions. He showed some courage in the pocket. Our running backs did not play particularly well without the ball. Daccus Turman probably was the most consistent of our backs. Demetris Summers played well when he had the ball. On defense, we gave up too many big plays. We gave up 212 yards on 13 plays and just 69 yards on the other 49 plays they ran. (on the chance that UVA quarterback Matt Schaub may not play due to a shoulder injury) “The best cure for him would be for him to watch our game film. He could throw left-handed against us and have some success. Virginia has just about everybody back. They are very talented. There is nothing more official on Charles Silas (junior college recruit who has not been admitted to USC).”

Monday, Sept. 1 – a reminder about the Lou Holtz press conference, 12 noon in the Lettermen’s Lounge. Players scheduled to come by at 12:30 p.m. for interviews include TE Hart Turner, QB Dondrial Pinkins, S Jamacia Jackson, OT Travelle Wharton, CB Dunta Robinson.
