Security measures will remain in place at Neyland Stadium for Saturday evening’s football game pitting the University of Tennessee against the University of South Carolina.

Gates will open at 5:45pm Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 7:45pm. Security measures in place since the beginning of the season will remain, UT vice president of operations Phlip Scheurer said.

“Authorized personnel will be at the gates, advising fans that large parcels such as backpacks or boxes are not permitted inside the stadium,” Scheurer said. “In addition, no items may be stored or left at the gate.”

Cushions, small radios, cell phones, and diaper bags for infants are acceptable, Scheurer said, although stadium officials reserve the right to search any items coming through the gates.

Scheurer and Athletic Director Mike Hamilton are appealing for fans to be on their best behavior since this is the first conference game of the season.

“We want fans from both schools to support their team enthusiastically,” Scheurer said. “At the same time, we expect them to demonstrate good sportsmanship outside and inside the stadium.”

The Volunteer Village exhibition area will be open on the greenspace in front of the humanities building from 3:45-7:15pm.

The traditional Vol Walk starts at 5:30pm from Gibbs Hall to the stadium, and the Pride of the Southland Marching Band will march from the UT Music Hall to the stadium at 6:05pm.

Directional parking will be used in Area 9 and Lots 1,2,4, and 5. The new parking garage on the corner of Cumberland Avenue and 11th street is open for donors assigned to the garage. After the game, traffic on 11th Street will be one-way northbound to Western Avenue.

Phillip Fulmer Way from Middle Drive to Tee Martin Drive, Peyton Manning Pass, Middle and Lower drives and Estabrook Drive will be closed 30 minutes before kickoff.

ESPN will broadcast the game Saturday.
